Restaurant and beach club furniture, made in Bali
Thirty identical chairs that survive three services a day, loungers that spend the season in full sun, tables that take glasses and elbows: hospitality furniture is all about series and durability. Two areas where our workshops excel — and where the furniture of the island's beach clubs originally comes from.
Beach clubs: furniture that lives outdoors
Sun loungers, daybeds and beach beds, low lounge sets, bar benches: this is the signature furniture of beach clubs, and one of our workshops' historic products. Solid teak is the benchmark for a technical reason, not a decorative one: naturally rich in oil, it handles full sun, rain, salt air and chlorine splashes without chemical treatment. Left untreated, it takes on the silvery-grey patina you see in every beach club on the island; oiled once a year, it keeps its honey tone.
What changes for a venue, compared with a private client
- Mattresses and cushions have removable covers — that is the part that wears, not the frame. Covers in outdoor fabric, in your colour, with spare sets ordered at the same time: you never buy a whole lounger again.
- Models are designed for restocking — we keep the dimensions and finishes of your series. Five loungers to replace in two years are remade identically, without starting again from a prototype.
- Joints are reinforced — a restaurant armchair goes through in one year what a living-room armchair goes through in ten. Tenons, rails and sections are adapted accordingly, and the series is load-tested before packing.
- The check covers the whole series — out of forty seats, all forty are checked, not a sample: one wobbly chair in thirty shows in the dining room, and costs you in customer reviews. How the check works.
- The schedule follows your works — opening, renovation, change of season: the production and shipping calendar is set around your opening date, not the other way round.
The dining room: series are our playground
A restaurant dining room means twenty to a hundred identical seats — exactly the format where ordering from Bali becomes very worthwhile. The chairs and armchairs come in solid teak, cane webbing, woven rope or upholstered in your fabric; the bar stools follow the same line, with brass footrests or a wooden rail. For tables, solid teak for tops that live a full life, and single-slab suar tops for large groups and chef's tables.
Atmosphere, right up to the ceiling
Hand-woven rattan and natural-fibre pendant lights — often ordered in clusters of different sizes — turn a dining room into a place people photograph. Large rope pendants do the same job in a double-height space, and found décor pieces give a new venue the depth it doesn't have yet.
Volumes, lead times and shipping
A complete hospitality project usually ships in a full container: that is the volume at which freight becomes negligible per piece. Allow 6 to 8 weeks of production (10 to 12 for models designed specially for you), then 4 to 5 weeks at sea to Europe and 8 to 10 to North America and the Caribbean. The loading is photographed before departure.
To judge how it holds up in daily use, the most telling example is Maobi Beach, in the bay of Agay: a restaurant and private beach on the French Riviera furnished from Bali — woven armchairs, canopy daybeds, sun loungers and lanterns. Furnishing accommodation instead? See hotels and villas.
